Late Binding in Medical Data Warehousing: The Only Technical System That Makes Sense

A program is a compilation of many strings of complex data. Fitted together like the perfect puzzle, a single missing piece in the code means that the entire program is incomplete. In more specific terms, the program itself will likely collapse because it cannot complete its full execution. Because code is structured in such a way that a computer must read every single aspect, it is not designed to just fix mistakes in the code because it can assume that is what the developer meant.

This practice extends to all aspects of software engineering and development, no matter the industry and sub-medium. Video games are crafted from the reading of an incredibly dense program that is filled with calls and responses. Websites and computers are developed with intricate frameworks.

Data Housing a Late Binding System

This all leads to a relatively new innovation in program computing, and it is known as healthcare analytics. Comparatively, early binding follows this idea that the code is singular structured and all-encompassing. It binds data points early, and few alterations are allowed. A late binding system is almost the exact opposite in structure. It allows new coded and data to be altered and added even after the framework of the program is designed and integrated.

Why it Works

This is also known as object oriented programming, and it can be broken down as follows. Medical data can be accessed and read easier when it is binded together by patterns, needs, etc. For example, certain ailments may require a response from certain physicians, a natural data bind that can be added to the system. In an early binded system, this would not be practical. The code would not easily allow for these adjustments and new binds because the structure of the framework is already intact and, in other words, ‘done.’

In late binding, the data binds are not established until later. This means they can be added to the infrastructure without ruining the integrity of the whole program. They are added intothe code modules—selected bits of code that fit into the framework, like a puzzle piece—without distorting or collapsing the whole program.

What is early binding and late binding? The answer to this question lies in how the program is built from the ground up. Innovators are leaning towards late binding data warehouse in the medical industry to improve software processes along the way.
